Do tailgate nets really save gas?

4

I’m considering buying a tailgate net before going on a long trip with my F-150 pick up. I’m hearing both that a tailgate net will save me gas and that I don’t need one because the air flow causes a bubble in the bed and air will flow right over the bed and not cause drag.

According to mythbusters, leaving your tailgate up is the best way to go.

The “bubble” is correct. Bed covers are also good, but driving with your tailgate removed doesn’t help at all.
