Deisel Eficiency versus Gasoline eficiency (non hybrid)?
Besides the obvious “diesel is more then gasoline” that you can find online, is there any cost benefit analysis that shows that it is more efficient and money saving to go with diesel. I want to know if I would get the higher mileage out of diesel but spend more money because it costs more. it is kind of a moot point since i cant buy a diesel car in CA anyway…

go to http://www.fueleconomy.gov and you punch in any price and MPG and compare any fuel prices on a yearly basis cost.
this may seem really hard to beleive but diesel gets more miles per gallon. that is if you take care of it. i mean like in the winter you should have it pluged in so the engine won’t frease. that is another thing… in the winter you would more likely want a gasoline engine… because my 85 mercades -benz is an e class and it is a diesel engine……… it gets really good gas milage. it gets about 25 mpg…
Diesel’s are far more durable than gas engines because they are inherently built stronger to accommodate the high compression. Consequently, they are more expensive to repair also. But if you factor in their longevity and fuel economy, they are better bargains in the long run which is why much of Europe and other countries use them. With the new low-sulfur diesel fuel laws being enacted, diesels may be a good option versus gas or hybrids. Water vapor injection could make them even cleaner.
Check out the Opel Eco-speedster…113 mpg on a 1.3 liter turbo-diesel.

one litre of diesel emits more pollutants than a litre of petrol when burned, HOWEVER one litre of diesel takes you farther than a litre of petrol, and diesel engines provide more torque. thats why diesel is so big in europe, it has more oomph and better mileage.
