DEFROSTER SAVES GAS INSTEAD OF USING HEATER/AIR CONDITIONER?

4

my defroster keeps my car warm in the winter and okay cool in the summer. i am using this instead of the heater and air conditioner because it seems as if it burns less/ saves gas. just wondering if my theory is true.

quite possibly being your air conditiner pulley isnt magnetically engaged when you are running the engine .the defroster motor takes less power because it is 12 volt electrical

it might but its been proven that running the a/c has no affect on gas mileage but if u put your windows down your gas mileage goes with them its like you running with a parachute strap to your back its harder for you to run heat is a by product of the motor so it doesnt affect it

When you turn your defroster on, you are also engaging your AC whereas when you use your heater, you are blowing engine heat into your cabin. In the past, it was recommended you turn on your AC a couple times in the winter to turn everything, but since it is running when you turn on your defroster, you no longer have to do that. I think you would actually use less gas turning the heater on as it doesn’t engage the AC (when it is fairly warm out, turn on turn on your heater, but turn the temp knob to cold…. the air comming through will be the outside ambient temperature. Now do the same with the defrost, and you will notice cold air blowing through).

LOL.

Both functions use the AC compressor.

You notice the air is dryer in both instances, right? That’s the compressor at work.

Do not try to over think this saving fuel stuff, okay?
