can you save gas in a jeep by driving in 3 instead of drive?
In my jeep i can drive in drive, 3 or 12. Some one keeps telling me that if i drive in 3 then i’ll use less gas but that doesn’t seem right to me. And if it’s true is it okay to drive in 3 (as in not damaging the jeep or using up other things in it)?

no
3 is a lower gear meant for things like towing it puts more power to the wheels but less speed
if you were to drive normal in 3 the motor would have to work harder to get to normal speed
and it would damage the motor over time
No. That is unless you are towing a trailer all the time. Someone is pulling your leg or playing on the fact you are blond…
No.. Leave it in Drive. Torque converter locks up and saves gas. 3 might be used when towing, or decending a hill using the engine to slow down.
