instead of powering the compressor off from the engine.
over the years I have always bought higher octane gas, because it does give better mileage, and when you compare the price of gasoline today versus the 10 to 20 cents a gallon for higher octane, it only makes sense.
however on short trips around town, most of your mileage goes down with stop and go traffic, and restarting the car for short trips.

absolutely not. The BROQUET device has been tested in EPA sponsored labroratories and is proven to be ineffective. Its a fraud.
Octane number has nothing to do with fuel economy, it has has to do with the fuel preigniting uder heavy loads. As a matter of fact, if the car engine can produce more power and you use that extra power, you’ll get WORSE mileage.
Best thing is to practice all the gas saving driving tips posted here and that can be found on the net, do a search for those and donot listen to all those tricks, gimmicks and save money by not buying the scams.
None of them work, they are all scams.
