Can someone recommend a fuel efficient car to buy for business use?
Work has given me a £450 per month car allowance and 40p per mile for busness use and I intend of getting a new car. Obviously I want something best represents me for work, so not a small car, but also something that is fuel efficient to save money. Any recommendations?
Thanks for the answers. While I know that smaller cars are more efficient, I need something larger. A yaris would not be impressive as a business car. I will be travelling throughout the UK. So perhaps a better way to have asked my question would be ‘which of the larger saloon cars would be the most efficient’.

It’s called a mustang. Horse and buggy.
yaris; prius; or a aveo- if you fuel effiecent your gonna have to get a smaller car
Mazda Protege’. An Austin Mini. Ford Escort. Go for a comfortable driving car. If you are driving long distances get a bigger car. If it is city run about get a Honda Accord. Pontiac Wave.
Since your across the pond this won’t help. But if you lived in the states you are all ready in trouble! 1st. You mentioned you had a job…1st big difference! 2nd. Work was going to give you 450 allowance per month? Here in the bountiful states, you don’t even need to have a job to get 450 a month(thank you welfare, food stamps, etc). Fuel efficient…Properly inflating your tires can gain valuable MPG, (Thanks Al Gore). Ok, my rant is over, go get a new Mini, they are reliable.
go for a vw tdi they get great gas mielage about 55mpg and start at about $22,000 and there not to small of a car.
VW Jetta
