Can people save fuel ? I want to fix a battery operated motor like my startor motor in ….?
my car engine. Then I can move the car in heavy traffic with the motor power. Will it Work?
My motor will be a geared motor fractional HP, pulling less ampearage as I want to move one feet per 10 seconds.True some serious design changes should be done to couple with the gear box.

Unfortunately no. The starter motor is not designed for extended use, or for use in moving the car (i.e. putting it in gear and turning the key). The starter motor is designed specifically for high torque for brief periods. Also, it uses a LOT of amperage. Quite simply, if you attempt to use the starter motor to move the car, you’ll burn it out. Also, you’ll drain your battery fairly quickly. The expense of replacing the starter and the battery if you attempt this would be many times greater than leaving your car idling in traffic.
If you want to save fuel, a very easy method is, if you’re going to be at a stop light for more than 10 seconds, turn your motor off. Modern fuel injected cars use less fuel restarting than they do in 10 seconds of idling. So, if you’re stuck at a long light, turn off your motor. Restart it when the light turns green.
You have an interesting idea. The starter motor won’t work.
But there are other motor that will work. So retrofit some motor for people who live in heavy traffic area. And when the car has to creep use the electric motor instead of leaving the AC on…
The only problem is that (a) you need large battery bank (b) turn the AC off…
But still the idea has merit.
Good Luck. You might have a winner.
Why don’t you just design an external combustion engine that runs on water?
