Can K&N Air Filter really save gas for my Lexus IS300?
I know better airflow increases little hp, but I’m more interested in saving fuel since I commute far. I know tornardo is a scam, so I’m looking for any ideas to save gas any other way without stripping the interior, taking out a/c, or taking out the spare tire. Any good ideas will be much appreciated. If you happen to drive IS300, let me know from your experinces.

As soon as the Smart fortwo comes out buy one.
40+ mpg I’m thinking about getting one just to run errands.
A K&N will gain you some air flow, but you must be very careful. If you use one (they last a long time), when it gets dirty, do not re-oil it and re-use it.. excess oil can contaminate your Mass Air Flow Senser… A very important and delicate sensor in your intake tube…and like $400 to replace if damaged..
yes they actually do work on all cars, and do help a little on some cars a lot too,i have one and went from around 17 up to 21 which was a big improvement considering im driving a 4 wheel drive, but they usually will help any vehicle you install them on,all it does it let it breath better and get more air,and cleaner air,and that helps it to run better which helps it to get more gas mileage, their worth what they cost though, mine has saved me what it cost them some, good luck with it.
First off, if you can afford to drive a Lexus, then the minimal improvement, if any at all with a high flow air filter will not make you a rich man. At best it might pay for itself over the lifetime of the car. If saving money is so important, lose the ego, sell the car and buy something economical. for example, you could sell your car, then buy something for around 3000 dolllars. With all the extra money, you can take a vacation, relax and still have lots of money left over for gas. You must have other interests in life other than trendy over marketed gadgets.
Solo you got it !
I agree with ya 100% I would not invest on any of that. If I see one on a car at the car lot, I will stay clear from it. Reason why is, that most people that does that like to race it, so I would not know who drove it, or how, or what other mods were involved. On a car like that, I can say very confident that is very little gain from it.
Believe me, if there is a substantial gain from it, the manufacturer will install it from factory. The air filters on your car are designed from factory to work on wide range of conditions. These filters are made to run like lets say a race track. That is a very control environment and is no a daily ever changing weather conditions.
It probably won’t. Even when a company advertises a 5 to 10 percent saving in fuel economy that amounts to 1 or 2 mpg on a car that would otherwise average 20-25 mpg.
