Not much but. Yes.
I have been told that modern fuel injection cars don’t use any fuel at all when coasting in gear, and running at idle will use some fuel to keep the engine running, so coasting in gear will save you a little bit rather than going into nuetral.

You really want to do this dangerous maneuver to save a few cents on gas? Think, my friend!
You may save some gas but it could put excess stress on an automatic transmission and excess stress on a clutch with a manual transmission. Best just to feather the accelerator pedal when there is no need to accelerate. Plus you may need to accelerate rapidly and you could forget to drop it into drive if you become startled.
