Can Bio-diesel Really Help Save The World From Gasoline Cars?

4

It’s true biodiesel may not be a solution, but it’s a step in the right direction. Biodiesel pollutes less, can be made from used cooking oil, and diesel cars need little to no conversion to run on biodiesel. Hybrids are a better alternative, but they are very expensive, biodiesel is a cheaper solution. Look below for more info.

I think so, with the amount of fast-food restruants, there should be enough used vegi-oil to go around. The problem is that no major business supports this. There are only a few places you can go to convert a diesel to run on veggie-oil and even though the conversion is cheap – the filters are expensive – so until a few more places pop-up, you would have to buy a large filter and put it in your back-yard, and go to restraunts yourself and ask for the used oil and grease. If there were a few gas station type places that would do this for us, bio-diesels are much cleaner than electric cars.

No way after 50 years again you have to save the world. There will be side effect on every science invention. May be right now it is not yet known.

It seems you yanks are far behind us british. The government over here has reduced the cost of bio diesel by 20p compared to normal road diesel. This is because it is vertually carbon free so it save the enviorment and its cheaper too. The americans still want to drive there gas gussellers which is why is hasn’t caught on over there convert to diesel its cheaper!

Well if you have driven a car within the last year, you can understand the effect gas has on your wallet. I write this as the U.S. sets a new record on the price of a barrel oil, with a catastrophic $70.40 per barrel.
The use of bio-fuels, more specifically in this case bio-diesals, is more of a method to diversify the fuel industry so that the U.S. as a nation, and other nations with similar problems, are not dependent on foreign countries to function as a society. Biodiesals, sometimes in form of vegetable oil and other similar fluids, can provide the troubled country with independence, home-grown markets, and provide a stepping stone to reducing greenhouse gas emissions (in comparison to petroleum-based vehicles, which are significantly higher).
