Burning too much gas, took to garage & they suggest for tune up. I did it but problem remain same?

Spend $245 for nothing, Took other garage. They checked by handy computer, said output sensor problem. Other garage said-knock sensor & speed sensor need to replace. I don’t know what to do. Any idea to save gas which is abnormal, like 8/10 miles one gallon. My car nissan Altima 97. Thanks for your cooperation.

i would guess it would be a injector problem or a maf sensor problem or could be a o2 sensor as well but if the shops agree that those sensors are bad and its a certified shop this is probay true and should be replaced

There are many factors that affect mileage, such as those the shop mentioned, but also dirty intake, leaking fuel injectors, dragging brakes, low air in tires, or even someone siphoning your gas in the night. Even a dirty air filter (under $10) can rob you of 3-4 mpg.

Unfortunately not all mechanics are qualified to diagnose problems. They have the equipment to read codes but still need the knowledge and experience to know what caused that code. Until you find a good, trustworthy mechanic you may find that they keep throwing parts at it (expensive parts). Talk to friends and relatives and find a good mechanic that they have used and trust. Once you do find a good one, stick with him because they are hard to find.

go with the first out put sensor the sensor problems could be bouncing to the other sensors and giving a false read
