best gas saving car with good pep?

1

i just bought a kia sportage and although i like the car it has no power.it also doesn’t get more than 20 mpg in the city..whatever you save in gas you loose as soon as you try to pass or merge because you have to”press the pedal to the metal” just to begin to get up to speed. it has only a 2.0 liter engine 140 hp and 136 pound-feet of torque….

i would like to get a different car ( a cross over) but one that gets really good gas mileage and has speed to pass a car in the passing lane or trying to merge on the highway.

i have looked at hybrids but they don’t have the speed.

does anyone have any suggestions?

I still go for Keicars or any models not exceeding 1000CC. Daihatsu is always my top choice, and I personally own a Charade Aura CX (G100).
