Preston Tucker developed the Tucker automobile in the 1940s. The Tucker had advanced safety features, but it was not a fuel saving automobile.

Yes there was a man named Tucker who developed a very different car. I saw one at a museum. Very unique.
i dont belive it was a fuel saver , but it was ahead of its time in terms of safety…. it’s CYCLOPS center headlamp turned with the wheel, a feature just starting to turn up in today vehicles…

Yes, absolutely. But it wasn’t really fuel-saving. It had a very powerful engine, I think like 50 were built. It actually had a helicopter engine, and a whopping amount of horsepower and it was light. It was a far more efficient engine than the other car engines of the day, but due to the fact it was so powerful, it still used a lot of gas. It just delivered a lot more power on about the same amount of gas.
