Are there any cost saving of commuting from northern NJ to lower manahttan using public transportations?

what I mean is I figured I would put about 13k less miles on my car per year which is what I do now and you save on gas but then you do have to pay for your bus fare and subway.

Public transportation is almost invariably significantly cheaper than driving yourself, even if you are driving a super-fuel efficient car. When you take into account the wear on your car and the gas, it will come out to much more than the bus and subway fares.

Considering that parking in Manhattan is going to cost you $400 a month anyway, not to mention the necessity of having a $75 unlimited MetroCard, and the $120 a month for the Holland or Lincoln Tunnels, and the $160 a month for the congestion charge that will soon be in effect, spending $400 on a monthly train pass and MetroCard isn’t that bad of a deal. It beats the $755, which doesn’t even include gas and maintenance.
