Don’t slam on the gas when starting from a stop. Keep an eye on your RPM gauge. (the higher it goes up, the more gas you’re using). Use coasting to your advantage.

Don’t crank up the air conditioning. While it doesn’t “use” gas, the AC will make your car perform slower, thus making you push the gas pedal more.

if you are driving on the highway you should set your cruise control at 65mph. if you are really daring you can drive your car within a foot of the back of a semi truck, put your car in neutral and the truck will drag you along. but i dont really reccomend this

Accelerate slowly, carry as light a load as possible.

same as the above answer, also use cruise control as much as you can, make sure your tire pressure is good and oil change every 3000 miles or so.

Before you leave:
1. Check your tire alignment, pressure and general condition or have someone do it for you. Tires can have a tangible effect on your mileage, so this cost can pay for itself.
2. If you have a choice of vehicles choose the one with best mileage. Minimize your weight load by bringing things that you are certain you will use.
3. Plan your route to minimize the distance, by taking the most direct routes and selecting your intermediate destinations in a logical order. Don’t drive further than you have to.

On the road:
1. Accelerate slowly and braking when possible. Leave extra space in front of you on the highway so you can minimize the start and stop of traffic around you.
2. Drive closer to the speed limit and don’t let other drivers pressure you into changing your speed. The energy required to fight air resistance increases exponentially as you go faster.

Have a nice trip!
