Am I cheap and if so how can I stop?
I’m in HS and since this stupid recession thing I’ve been trying to spend as little as possible and save up as much as possible. I think I was always this way since on online games I’d never want to spend any of my money and I’d just watch it grow and grow. But now it’s affecting my real life.
Like in 8th grade my friend always brought lunch; a PB&J and some snacks. Shed almost always eat the snacks but never the sandwich. So I’d eat it and I also liked it because I wouldn’t have to pay for a school lunch. *note Ive always been really careful to conserve food because I hate wasting it because I feel bad for people who have less then me.
Also when my friends get me cheap stingy gifts I get mad because I actually do pay alot around holidays. And at sleepovers and dinners I think “ok so if I paid tonight but she drives me home and uses her gas were even kind of”. I’m nit lOoking for someone tk pay for me I just don’t war to shell out all my money.
Times are hard and I just don’t like spending
Money because it get it from my mom and u feel bad for spending her hard earned cash. That’s why with my job I’m trying to pay for everything I need myself and never have to ask for er money again.
Am I cheap or just trying to make it easier for my mom?

Sounds like its out of respect; you are doing it for other people. You don’t sound cheap to me man, and I know people who do the same thing on you, except wayyyyy worse. Srsly, this guy eats cereal with water instead of milk everyday in the morning….thats cheap. But what you are doing? nahh that sounds like a good thing. And I am glad you care about your mom that way.
Edit: if you eat cereal without milk, thats fine because it taste good that way.
Not being spendthrifty is a good thing, and especially since you are doing with your mom in mind. Its smart to save whenever you can and as long as you aren’t trying to take advantage of others (which it does not seem like you are, cause you seem fair to me) then keep doing it the same way.

No I dont think you are. Sounds like you are very careful but not obessive about it. Personally I think your being smart! I mean saving money is hard but totally worth it. As long as it doesn’t get out of hand your fine! (:

No you’re not cheap, you’re just trying to make it easier to your mom to budget her income since you are saving from your allowance.Maybe there are many people saying that you’ll gonna be rich someday.
