Comments on aftermarket gas saving parts ?
Any modification that increases air flow and efficiency will help gas mileage…but not by much.
Your right foot.
I have never encountered any aftermarket parts for gas saving that were worth anything, although there are lots of claims around. The makers are in a fevered competition to maximize fuel efficiency, and spend millions to do so; you aren’t going to be able to improve on it with garage-shop tinkering. A Nissan Titan is a big truck; if you need a vehicle that large, then you’ll have to buy the gas for it. All one can really do is use the smallest vehicle which will do the job.
You can try buying a Tornado intake mixer and an KN air filter. Opening up the exhaust helps a little but you really will not get your money back in gas savings, but it does give you more power and better mileage. Synthetic oils/fluids. And lastly, an air pressure gauge for your tires. Keep them aired up, and buy the most narrow tire you can fit on your vehicle. Learn to be gentle on the gas pedal and ease off the gas prior to stop lights/signs. Cold air intake does not give you better mileage. And buy a bicycle and ride that instead of driving.
Trade it in on a Ford, Dodge, or Chevy 3/4 ton Diesel. I am getting 19.5 MPG in my crew cab long bed F350 Diesel. Here regular unleaded sells for $3.49 and diesel sells for $3.09. My mods consist of K & N air filter assembly, Gibson 4″ exhaust and a Banks Otto minder programmer. My HP is 425 and my torque has been estimated at 600. When gasoline goes to $5.00 a gallon I will be burning vegetable oil.
Nissan Titan and Toyota Tundra owners have all been hit with the realization that with that horsepower comes a big fuel appetite. Go diesel and be a winner.
Tell me where you are, and I will come fill up. $3.28 here. Most of the aftermarket gas saving products are good only at getting your money. Slow down, make sure your tires are properly inflated, coast when possible, drive as if there is an egg between your foot and the gas pedal that you don’t want to break, and make sure your engine is well tuned. Don’t idle over 30 seconds, drag that bicycle out of the rafters in the garage and air it up. Walk. Car pool.
