99 Yukon SLT Blown Manifold Gasket, Bad Fuel Pump?

1

Just bought a 99 Yukon SLT with 89,000 miles on it. The truck, including the engine is immaculate with no leaks, and very little rust. It has the 5.7L Vortec engine (“R” vin id). After 8 days of ownership, it ran hot and when I checked the coolant, it was 1 gallon low. Over the next 3 days, I had to add another gallon. There were no external leaks, and only after adding the 2nd gallon, did I discover the engine oil was overfilled and contaminated with coolant. There was never any white smoke from the tailpipe. The dealership, after towing the truck in, told me the problem was an bad intake manifold gasket. I thought the trouble was a cracked block.
Could the dealership be pulling a fast one, to save the expense of an engine rebuild or prevent having to cancel the sales contract? Also, there is a loud, high-pitched whine coming from underneath the truck. This sound comes on everytime the ignition is on. I believe it is the fuel pump but shouldn’t be as loud as it is. Should it?

Yes you have a bad intake manifold gasket I just did the same repair on a customers car last week, have the repair done do not drive the vehicle with water in the crankcase it will destroy the bearings, the whine is the fuel pump although how loud it is could be personal perception have them check it but they do make an audible noise when energized.
