93 Ford Escort Wagon. Where is the fuel pressure regulator located?

2

I have a 93 Ford Escort Wagon 1.9 ltr. I was told the fuel pressure regulator on my vehicle is bad. The car is not worth a lot right now and am trying to save money. Where is this part located (under the hood, near the fuel tank?) and is this something I could do? I am pretty good under a hood with good automotive knowledge. Just not sure where to look or if this is something I should leave to the professionals. Thanks!

generally the pressure regulator is located under the hood, but in certain circumstances (not in this case) the regulator can be located underneath the car on or near the fuel pump. i cant get to specific since the last time i had my hands on an escort of that year was… 3 years ago, so im going off of common sense, memory and a bit of hearsay. to tell the truth, the best place to find an answer for this is http://www.feoa.net . its a ford escort exclusive forum and your generation escort is covered VERY well in the forum threads. its free to join, and once you join, make sure you SEARCH FIRST. the guys on the forum are nice, but they are not above flaming threads that have been covered before. oh, and if you want some low dollar upgrades for your wagon, check out the exterior modifications section. also i believe that the 1.9L sohc had a unique trait; if you took a 1st gen dsm turbo exhaust manifold, turbo and plumbing and wiring, flipped the manifold upside down and bolted it to the block, you could have a turbo’d escort running up to 12psi without spending more than $600. say it with me… S-L-E-E-P-E-R.
