2011 Camry: how much do you spend on gas?
it would seem i spend a lot on gasoline on my 2011 Camry. I have to get gas maybe once every 3 days. I heard that if you short shift it will save a tiny bit of gas. I don’t know if this is true, but my friend says it has to do with the way I drive, I constantly make the engine roar when i speed up after stopping

engine roaring is costing you LOTS of fuel.
I typically buy fuel once every 400 to 500 miles; and spend $50 to $60; but my vehicle (Jeep) uses a LOT more fuel than a Camry should.
* properly inflate the tires.
* narrowest, mildest street tires that you can find that fit.
* if manual transmission, up-shift very early (like 1200 rpm), and once in top gear, accelerate with your foot to the floor until reaching cruising speed.
* drive slower.
* if automatic transmission, accelerate very gently.
* avoid A/C
* keep your windows closed.
* bed cover – opening the tail gate does not help; a complete bed cover is worth 10% or more increase in fuel economy at 55 mph.
* keep pressure on the accelerator constant – do not tap your foot.
* anticipate stops – if traffic light changes from green to red ahead of you, immediately coast, same when you see stop signs.
* plan your route to avoid stopping.
* coast more.
* use your brakes less. Brakes convert kinetic energy into heat. Your engine converts fuel into kinetic energy. Every time you use your brakes, you are giving away fuel.
* follow, don’t lead.

You may need to change your driving habits. And maybe get the car checked out for any problems
The 2011 Camry has a very powerful engine, if you step on it every time, you will use up a lot more gas. Accellerate slowly, let your car coast as much as possible when you see a red light in the distance, drive at a constant speed and you’ll find Toyota gives the best gas milage. Drive it hard and you’ll be spending more to be the quickest, up to you!
well ya engine roaring will cost you gas,,,i get 900km on a tank,highway on a 4cyl,,show me a gm that dose that,,,also if you have windowdefog only on all the time it takes more gas as the ac compressor kicks on
