I’ve heard that turning the car off and on again takes up more gas then the gas spent just leaving the car on (at a long stop).

1) do you save gas if you shift to neutral and just let gravity do the work? (in a manual car or an automatic)
2) do you have less control of the car when in neutral?
3) is it bad for an Automatic car if you keep shifting from D to N?
Why is it against the law to put it in neutral? don’t the brakes work just as well as normal? wouldn’t it be worse to be accelerating downhill?

I was told that using my a/c on my car actually saves gas and you’ll get better milage. This is because the “drag” on the car is less with the windows rolled up. SO since that is something I once believed, what is the scoop about using cruise or the pedal? I live in northeast Maine, and the roads are up. down, and around. Would like to know which to use to conserve and save gas. Thanks.
P.S. Is it REALLT true about the a/c, too?

Sometimes, I just can’t stand the doubled up traffic time especially when there is no direct A to B freeway to take. If I take freeways, I have to drive like a semi circle (on the map) to get the my home/office.
So I am thinking about taking local ways (cutting through the circle) but somehow I heard better stick with freeway? Why? Local would definitely save up mileage and time, wouldn’t it? Is driving local more dangerous than on freeway?

I was wondering if this would matter? Putting a full tank verse putting 10 dollars in every couple days? It seems the tank lasts longer if I fill my tank up ( i get more mileage to the gallon). But if I put 10 dollars in every couple days- it just goes, like I through money out the window.
So does it matter? Any other ways to conserve gas? Any studies I could read/ websites telling me about mileage and gasoline?
