California’s popularity among tourists. Unlike New York say, California is definitely not a state made for walking, and to be able to see everything there is to see, a car is what you will need. Ask your self a simple question; how else are you going to see and do everything you plan on your vacation without renting a car? That said, here are some California car rental ideas you will hopefully find useful.
If this is your first trip to California, it would be best if you had a relative or friend to show you around the place but if that is not the case, a descent California car rental service is what will help you with your vacation plans. To set your vacation off to a good start, learn from someone local perhaps, where to find the preferred California cheap one way car rentals.
For the majority of people, who travel on a budget this would be a company that fits within their estimated costs of the trip and your travel agent is likely to offer you some help in this matter. With the sheer number of car rental companies in California, it may not be easy at first to know if the one you chose is the right one for your needs. This is why some checking and asking someone local is a good idea.
A good idea would be to seek out the places that you think you would be interested in seeing, some time before you actually go on the trip. Not planning your trip or your day out beforehand could cause a lot of problems with you ending up traveling in the wrong directions for hours as the main one. Try to make sure whether the California car rental services are really what is needed, and if find out if sticking to mass transport would not end up cheaper. Keep in mind, though, that using California care rental services will make your holidays a lot more convenient, so give it a thought and assess what actually your priorities are regarding this trip. Also, make sure you search the internet for coupons for car rentals in California.
Everything comes down to planning, after all it is your vacation and you really do need to make the most of it as there isn’t much you can do about it once you have returned home. As a guide, just assess your needs for the trip and the options available to you which should give an idea of the best course of action. I don’t think you can go wrong with a California car rental agency and the chances are you will find a very good company and at the right price for your budget. Knowing what you want is the key, because once you have that information to hand, it is just a case of finding someone who can supply what you require. Apart from asking at your local travel agent’s office about the recommended California car rentals you could also take your relatives’ and friends’ advice. If you have run out of ideas then I suggest you look online for the information you seek as it is likely you will find everything you need there before you go on vacation.

If you intend travelling to Spain and touring it’s easy enough to hire a car. However as Spain has one of the highest number of traffic accidents you should drive cautiously. The holiday hotspots get extremely busy during the summer months so you should allow plenty of time for travelling to you intended destination. Key holidays will see the roads choc a block, so work around the busiest bank holidays
‘which you can find on a Spanish work calendar.
It is advisable to invest in a good map as new roads in Spain are being built all the time. If you have a GPS that would be an added advantage, but it’s possible that they may not be updated with the latest information.
Depending on where you intend to travel be aware that the climate between Spanish regions can make longer drives quite a challenge. The temperature can go from very hot to cold in a short space of time and in the winter nothern regions may have snow. If you intend travelling from one region to another always check on the weather conditions.
The high number of accidents has forced the Spanish government use a penalty points licence system, and driving offences such as speeding, drink driving, mobile telephone use in cars lead to points being taken from your driving licence as well as a fine.
Arranging car hire before you leave home from one of the airports such as Alicante, Murcia or Madrid is easy, and makes life a lot easier then waiting until you arrive. If you decide not to hire a car at the airport there are numerous other locations throughout the country.
Driving and Alcohol is a definate no. Drink is readily available all day but don’t mix drinking with driving. You don’t want a dream holiday spoiled.
Finding the cheapest car hire in Spain can be done online where there are thousands of car hire comparisons from all the major car hire companies such as Alamo, Budget,Avis,Thrifty,National, Payless, Europcar, Sixt and Enterprise.

When it comes to conserving gas, or getting the best gas mileage, nothing beats trading in your current car for a more fuel-efficient model. Unfortunately, not everybody has enough money to afford such a costly undertaking. In fact, it’s a little bit self-defeating – if I had enough money to buy a new car when I feel like it, the price of gas should be of no concern. So with that in mind, here’s a look at some of the best ways to increase fuel mileage and save money.
Some people have resorted to various gas saving devices, but majority of these things don’t work according to the Environmental Protection Agency. The few ones that do work provide barely noticeable that they won’t justify their cost. The EPA actually has a point when they stated that it is smart to be skeptical about gas saving devices. After all, if those things actually work, wouldn’t it have been easier if cars were made that incorporated these things?
Right now, the most cost-effective way you could save on gas is by being more responsible and following a few simple rules when it comes to your car. In the first place, try to maintain your car in tip-top shape. If you’re worried about the cost of a regular tune up, think of the costs in repairs if your car breaks down at the most inopportune times. That alone should convince you to do regular tune ups, even if you don’t need to save on gas. If you have the knack for it, study how to tune up your car. You can learn in a few months in one of the crash course schools.
Simple things will also help, like refueling in the morning or late at night, when the fuel is cool. Gas contracts and expands based on temperature, and a cool gas will have less density than heated ones. That means you will get more gas for your money. Just remember not to fill your gas tank to the brim or you’re going to have some problems when that gas expands.
The way you drive will also have profound effects on your gas mileage. If you drive off immediately in a low and consistent speed after starting, the engine will ramp up faster and increase lubrication. This means your engine will need less gas during the startup process.
Do not let the motor idle for too long either. If you’re in one of those lengthy traffic jams, it helps if you turn off the engine and the air condition for a while. It will take less fuel to restart an engine that in takes to keep it idling. Usually, you don’t need to press the accelerator down in order to restart a warm engine…and since we’re on the subject, don’t depend on the air condition too much. If the climate is cool and you’re cruising in a less polluted place, turn the AC off and roll the windows down a little so that the cool breeze will cool you instead.
If you follow all of these tips, you will find that you don’t really need to spend a lot of money just to conserve on gas. The perfect setting is that you will save not only on gas, but also on cash.

Although hybrids may seem like a modern fad, in reality, the concept of a hybrid vehicle has been around for over a century. In fact, versions of “hybrids” have been around for even longer. Today’s modern hybrid began with Dr. Ferdinand Porsche, the designer of the original Volkswagen Beetle. In 1901, Porsche designed and created the “Mixte,” a car that powered a generator with a gasoline engine. The generator then powered a series of small electric motors, creating a battery pack. The Mixte was based off of an even older design of Porsche’s called the “System Lohner-Porsche.” Later, in 1915, Woods Motor Vehicle created the “Duel Power,” a car that ran on an electric motor below 15 mph and gasoline above that. This car was in production until about 1918, but since few people actually have the money to purchase a car, let alone a hybrid car, and with the invention of the self-starting gasoline engine, this idea eventually fizzled out. People played with the idea of hybrids during the mid-20th century, but no ideas stuck until the 1990s, when Japanese car company Toyota launched their Toyota Prius. The Prius was the first hybrid car available to the masses, and it was the result of decades of research, starting with the 1977 prototype, the Toyota Sports 800 Gas Turbine. In 2000, the Prius became available in the United States, after success in the Asian market and success of the 1999 launch of the Honda Insight hybrid. Demand for hybrids has been exploding ever since, and car companies are struggling to keep up the supply without flooding the market. Experts predict that over 450,000 hybrids will be sold in 2007, up from under 100,000 in 2004.Author:James L. Benson
