15 miles on freeway or 10 miles street/local would burn more gas?
I drive to school every day. Which way would save more gas? It would be (according to Google Maps) 15.1 miles using the freeway, or about 10.3 miles going down a main street?

Comments on 15 miles on freeway or 10 miles street/local would burn more gas?
it depends on which has more time moving and more time idle like at stop lights and such
high way will most likley save more gas
all most the two ways will be spending same gas but only thing is you can save time if you take freeway……
I get 45-50 mpg city, 60-65 mpg highway.
10.3 miles city = 0.206 – 0.229 gallons.
15.1 miles highway = 0.232 – 0.252 gallons.
City saves me gasoline. Your mileage may vary.
Depends on your car and your driving habits.
Long slow and smooth acceleration, avoid braking and stops by reading the traffic and lights ahead, keep speed in the sweet spot just above the shift point for best speed at lowest rpm.
Find the city and highway MPG rating for your particular vehicle. Divide the city rating by 10.3 miles, divide the highway rating by 15.1. There are your consumptions according to your vehicle’s ratings.
Highway, since you will be moving at a constant speed. Braking and accelerating on city streets reduces your gas mileage significantly.
